Former TP Mazembe midfielder Solomon Asante has joined Phoenix Rising Stars for the 2018 season.
The 27-year-old joins the American second-tier side after ending his five year stay with Lumbubashi-based giants.
“Phoenix Rising FC announced today it has signed midfielder Solomon Asante for the 2018 season. Asante most recently spent time with Congolese-based TP Mazambe, where he formally played under current Phoenix Rising head coach Patrice Carteron,” the club official statement reads.
The former Berkum Chelsea winger will be reunited with former TP Mazambe teammate and midfielder Gladson Awako.
Asante played an important role for the Ravens in their recent CAF Confederations Cup success against SuperSport United when he set up Daniel Nii Adjei for the side’s second goal in the first leg.
South African club Mamelodi Sundowns had earlier on renewed their interest in the diminutive winger.The speedster had also been linked with a move to China.
