The Somali Football Federation has dismissed the false reports circulated
on the international media for the past several days which said that SFF
president called on Al-Shabab to join its competitions.
In a press statement issued at the Somalia FA headquarters in Mogadishu on Thursday, the SFF said that the BBC journalist who interviewed the
president used irrelevant title for his story.
“Anyone who has read the BBC story can understand that something was
wrong with that story, because the title they used for the story was completely not in line with the rest of the story. The president didn’t call on Al Shabab to join the Somalia league” the statement said.
“No one is called to football but those who want play it. Football has nothing to do with politics. It is really very shameful experience that international media are going to mess something up” the Somali FA press statement carried.
However, the Somali Football Federation called on the international media
to be truthful and not try to grab the attention of their audience with
wrongful stories.
The unfortunate news just came days after Somalia FA President Abdiqani Said Arab was rewarded by Caf the African leader for 2015 for the splendid work being done by the President in uplifting football standards in the war torn country.
