Head Coach of Sportpesa Premier League side Sony Sugar FC has for the second time this season quit his job citing frustrations and interference in his work.
Embattled Odipo who has failed to master a win in eight fixtures since joining the 2006 champions is January, tendered his resignation letter to the chairman of the sugar belt outfit today, with the former Coach Salim Babu being handed the vacant post in an interim basis.
“Odipo tendered his resignation on Wednesday and we have accepted it. We cannot force him to continue if he feels he cannot. Salim will return on an acting capacity since he doesn’t have required papers.” Sony Chairman Paul Orato said.
Odipo explained his decision as follows, “It was a difficult place to work in and there were so much politics around the team. I saw it right to resign and I will take a sabbatical for the next two months.”
It has been a rough ride for the former Tusker FC assistant Coach since landing at the Awendo side. Time and again, the soft spoken tactician raised issues with a section of the playing unit who favored his then assistant Salim Babu of sabotaging him; he has also talked of hostile fans who never made his work easy by constantly insulting him on match days.
He leaves a relegation threatened Sony at position 15 with just 3 points same as bottom placed Sofapaka.
