South Africa coach Hugo Broos has apologised for storming off the touchline

South Africa’s Bafana coach Hugo Broos has apologised for storming off the touchline and failing to do his media duties following his side’s shock draw against Liberia.

South Africa went into the half-time break with a healthy 2-0 lead however things took a dramatic twist in the second half.

The national team squandered their two goal advantage before going on to play out to a 2-2 draw against their lowly ranked opponents.

Bafana’s AFCON hopes are now in serious jeopardy with Hugo Broos’ side heading to Liberia for a must-win clash on Monday.

The loss left the nation in shock, and coach Hugo Broos has explained the chaos that ensued at full-time.

BROOS ISSUES APOLOGY FOR BAFANA CHAOS

“When you see the game, it was clear that we were the better team. It was clear that we had many chances.” Broos said

“But it was also clear that we missed a lot of chances that, in the last half an hour. Bafana lost control over the game because Liberia was more powerful than we were.

“And then yeah, in the 91st minute or 92nd minute, you get a goal where you lose the victory. And that made a lot of emotions with me.

“And I left at 2-2 and went immediately to the dressing room. I did not fulfil my media obligations, and I want to apologise.

“But I am human, and the emotions took control yesterday over me. I know from experience that it is better not to say anything in the heat of the moment.

“And that’s what I did. It was not right, but people can understand in such circumstances that you are taking that decision.”

Bafana now have it all to do when they travel to the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Stadium in Liberia.
