Bafana Bafana have thrown themselves a lifeline in the Russia 2018 World Cup after beating West African opponents Burkina Faso this afternoon at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

After suffering back to back losses to Cape Verde and having a match they beat Senegal ordered for rematch South Africa needed a sigh of relief in this campaign. Posting am impressive 3-1 win.

Goals from T. Tau, T. Zwane and A. Vilakazi in first 45 minutes was enough to bring hope to the South African fans. As Burkina Faso pulled a face saver in the wee hours of the match.

From then South Africa controlled the match well. Enterprising Andile Jali was on had in the 35th minute as Arthur Zwane made it 2-0 for the hosts.

Scorer of the first goal Tau was this time the creator of third goal on the 46th minute assisting S. Vilakazi. Sending the frenzied home fans into comfort for the break.

Burkina Faso came more purposed in the second. Probably have found the answer to the marauding Bafana Bafana. With the scoreline at 3nil Bafana Bafana took things casually. But the Burkinabes were never going to go down with a fight.

Zungu was shown matching orders in the 67th minute and Jali too got a yellow card almost instantly. Those cards changed the tempo of the match.

Bakary Kone was the next character to be recorded in referee N Alioum’s book in the 78th minute.

Alain Traore’s 87th minute face saver was not enough to bring life into the match for the vistors.

South Africa will travel to Senegal on the 6th of November as Burkina Faso will be entertaining Cape Verde on the same day.
