South Sudan’s U-23 football team has pitched camp in Uganda ahead of their U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier/2020 Olympic qualifier game against Tunisia.
“We are not taking chances because we think we have a chance against Tunisia. Training in Uganda was the best option for the players and technical team to concentrate,” Francis Amin Micheal, the president of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA), told www.soka25east.com on Tuesday.
South Sudan will host Tunisia on March 21 in Juba before traveling for the return leg in six days.
South Sudan, which has never qualified for any major championship, shocked Uganda Kobs 2-1 on aggregate in the first round of the qualifiers.
The third and final round of the qualifiers will be held from June 3-11 to determine seven teams to join hosts Egypt.
The 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations is scheduled for Nov. 8-22. The top three countries automatically qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games football tournament.
