Southampton based midfielder Victor Wanyama was among 18 players who
reported for training at the Nairobi City Stadium on thursday ahead
of Harambee Stars invitational trip to Rwanda.
Other foreign based players who turned for training under head
coach Bobby Williamson and his deputy Musa Ottieno included
Francis Kahata who plays for Tirana FC,Francis Were(Amazulu,South
Africa) Brian Mandela(South Africa),Anthony Okumu(Al Sudan),Allan
Wanga(El Mereikh Sudan) and Johanna Omollo
The team jets out to Rwanda tomorrow(Friday)for the invitational
Peace Cup without several key players drawn from Kenya premier
League clubs led by Gor Mahia an AFC Leopards.
Speaking at the Nairobi City Stadium after Thursday;s morning
training session , Williamson said it was a pity that the team will
be travelling without the top cream plying in the Premier League .
Bobby has called 8 foreign-based players into his 32-man squad to
prepare for the CHAN qualifier against Ethiopia and AFCON qualifier
against Congo.
The team will miss Gor Mahia key players who are preparing for
their away trip to Kisumu where they will host Tusker FC. They
include Ali Abondo,Goalkeeper Bonface Oluoch,Haroun Shakava,Musa
Mohammed,Collins Okoth,Innocent Wafula and Michael Olunga.
AFC Leopards who face a do or die clash against Sofapaka on
Sunday at Nyayo will not release seven of their key players to link
up with the National team. They include Goalkeeper Wycliffe
Kasaya,Bernard Mangoli, Michael Khamati,Edwin Wafula,JacKson Salleh,
and Jacob Kelli.
Tusker players are Humphrey Mieno, Kevin Kimani and Jesse Were
who will also miss the trip to Rwanda.
Williamson had named a 32-man squad that has started preparations
for the 2016 African Nations Championships (CHAN) qualifiers and 2017
African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
