Former SC Villa Jogoo Coach Antonio Flores could be the man to take over from Frank Nuttall at Kenyan Premier League Champions Gor Mahia, Soka25east.com can reveal.
Frank who has had an enviable season with K’Ogalo, winning the league unbeaten as well as lifting KPL Top8 Knockout Tournament, is being forced by the club’s management to take a pay cut since Gor can nolonger afford his monthly salary of Kshs 600,000 due to their poor financial state.
The club has had to make do without a sponsor for the last two years, relying on well wishers and fans to stay a float.
Gor is reported to be insisting on the condition (taking a pay cut) for the Scottish continued stay at the 15-time Kenyan champions, and they have thus far negotiated a deal with Flores who is willing to earn Kshs 250,000 monthly.
Soka25east.com has also learnt that Nuttall is owed five months salary amounting to millions of shillings minus other unpaid allowances. His relationship with the club’s chairman Ambrose Dickson Otieno Rachier is reported to have grown uneasy lately, and this manifested during the recent KPL FOYA Awards where they could not shake hands.
Nuttall is however willing to continue his stay at Gor, to see to fruition his vision for the financially crippled giant. He was supposed to go for holiday yesterday (Sunday).
Antonio Flores.
Antonio Flores signed for the Uganda Cup Champions in July 2015 in a two year deal, but he could not last long due to a string of poor performances in the Ugandan Premier League.
He only managed two wins in as many matches as was fired in October.
In another related news, Gor could lose Rwandan left full back Abouba Sibomana – the experienced full back traveled home and did not feature for K’Ogalo in the Kenya Cup semis tie against Nakumatt last week.
His family is reported to be uncomfortable living in Kenya – this may force him to terminate his contract which has one year left.
