Guests Kenya’s Harambee Starlets are through to the semi-final of the 2016 COTIF Women’s Football Tournament Valencia, Spain after a 3-1 obliteration of host Espanyol on Tuesday.

The Kenyan queens who thumped Portuguese league champions CF Benfica 3-0 in their opening group “B” match on Sunday will on Wednesday face group “A” runner up Real Betis in the semis ahead of weekend’s final.

Red hot Esse Akida was again the star performer for Starlets, shaking the net twice to take her goals tally to five.

Earlier, Neddy Akinyi, returning from a minor ankle injury engraved her name on the scoreboard with the opener that was later cancelled out by M. Zaira to tie the game 1-1 at half time.

No any other player has scored more than a goal in the six team tournament apart from Esse. Her virtuoso performances in the tournament is no fluke but a confirmation of her domestic rich form where she’s the leading goal scorer in the league with 13 goals in 6 matches.

The Coach David Ouma’s ladies are sharpening for African Women’s Cup of Nations in November in Cameroon.
