Jose Mercelo Ferreirra, the new Gor Mahia Head Coach has hit the runway, pending his official unvailing later today.
The Brazilian jetted into the country on Monday 14 from his base in Italy.
Flanked by physical trainer Sandro Fantoni whom he tagged along with in his new job; he for the first time met the playing unit during Tuesday 15 morning training session at Camp Toyoyo in Jericho, Nairobi.
The first item on his list during the initial contact was to lay bare his programme for the team which included among others;
– Two training sessions a day; morning practice (physical training ) 9AM – 11AM, evening practice (ball play) 3PM – 5PM.
This calls for rapid adjustments on the part of players who were accustomed to a single morning session.
– Diet; what players eat will be regulated and on match days, food must be served four hours to kickoff.
– Open training sessions will be communicated in advance; closed sessions will be out of bound for unauthorised individuals.
The team will play a build up match over the weekend to help the Coach better assess his squad. His first league assignment will be against KK Homeboyz early April after the international break.
“Ze Maria” is banking on the full backing of the management, the playing unit and fans to help see through his immediate vision for K’Ogalo, which he says is retaining the league title.
