The 2017 SportPesa Premier League season will start as planned with six matches on the cards across the country.

This was clarified yesterday evening by the league body Chief Executive Officer Jack Ogunda in a short statement.

“We hereby confirm that all the league matches scheduled for this weekend are on,”stated Ogunda.

His message comes after reports yesterday indicated that a court order obtained by Sofapaka was to stop the league kickoff.

The beginning of the SportPesa sponsored league will witness defending champions Tusker start their title defence aganist newly promoted side Nzoia Sugar at Afraha Stadium starting at 2pm.

The Nzoia based side will be making league return after nearly two-decades aganist the brewers who will be trying to come out of shame and dissapointment after they bowed out of Champions League and their Super Cup loss to Gor Mahia last weekend.

In another fixture Bandari will face Nakumatt at Mbaraki Stadium.It is expected to be an entertaining fixture basing the fact Nakumatt will be making their debut season at the highest level of football in the country.

Mathare United will be facing Thika United on Sunday while Kariobangi Sharks with be facing Gor Mahia at the same venue in late kick-off.It will be a clash that is expected to produce sparks as K’Ogalo have not lost any competitive match at the Thika Municipal Stadium in the last seven years.

Sony Sugar will host their sugar milling counterparts Chemelil Sugar
in the first sugar derby of the season while in Afraha, Zoo Kericho will face Posta Rangers in an ealy kick off.
