Gor Mahia vs City Stars, 15/08/2015
Kenyan Premier League run away leaders Gor Mahia will have to seek Khalid Aucho’s replacement in tomorrow’s match Vs strugglers City Stars.
The influential midfielder who boasts of two league goals and several assists thus far in the season, picked his fifth yellow card in the 2-0 win over Ushuru FC on Wednesday 12, effectively locking him out of the City tie scheduled for Nyayo Stadium.
The Ugandan international has been a key part of K’Ogalo’s middle pack since landing as a free agent from rivals Tusker FC at the beginning of the season; he has formed a strong partnership with Collins “Gattuso” Okoth in that midfield, helping foil opponents attacks while linking the forward line with killer passes.
In his absence, Coach Frank Nuttall may call upon youngster Earnest Wendo or experienced Eric Ochieng’ to step into the big shoes.
The 14-time champions will be gunning for the 17th win of the season, and extend their unbeaten run to 21 games. A win will widen the gap between them and second placed Ulinzi Stars to 11 points with two games to spare.
For City Stars it will be another match, another fight to dodge relegation chop board at the near end of the season.
The Kawangware based side were also winners in their last fixture, shocking favorites Mathare United 2-0, a performance they will draw inspiration from when they face the free scoring Gor.
A win could see them swap positions with Chemelil FC to 14th spot on the log with 20 points.
