Mathare United v Ushuru (Nyayo Stadium, 2pm)
Mathare suffered a shock 2-0 loss to City Stars in their last match and Coach Stanley Okumbi is preparing hoping to collect all the maximum points came on Sunday against Ushuru FC this comes after a disappointing result against Nairobi City Stars last weekend in the Sportpesa Premier League and their will be looking for redemption when they face Ushuru.
“All along the week’s training I have tried to built their confidence in front of the goal,” Okumbi said.
“Ushuru has always been a tough side with an experienced coach and players.I expect a very tough duel,”
“It will also be an entertaining match as each of the two teams will try to secure the points for a good position in the log.”
Ushuru were also beaten 2-0 in their midweek encounter against defending champions Gor Mahia, and coach Ken Kenyatta said that he would work on his midfield ahead of this match.
“I have a problem with the midfielders because they are not supporting the strikers. Their supply of balls is very poor and it is something that I will have to work on before we meet Mathare,” he said.
The Slum Boys will have a full squad for seletion on Sunday with no injuries worries with the only consideration being midfielder Edwin Ombasa who suffered a family bereavement during the week and is unlucky to miss the match. The Club would like to offer its condolences to the Ombasa family.
In their first leg encounter in April, Ushuru emerged top 2-1 but are unlikely to repeat the same feat against a Mathare side that has been growing from strength to strength as the season advanced.
Raphael Nduati from Aberdares will be the center referee and he will be assisted by Nairobi duo of Mwangi Ngure and Oliver Ouma who will serve in the capacity of first and second assistant referees respectively.
