By Bonface Osano,
Muhoroni Youth will tomorrow Saturday August 8,2015 host free falling Thika United at their dreaded fortress, Muhoroni Stadium, in a potentially tight Kenyan Premier League fixture that both sides can’t afford to lose.
Muhoroni has been on the ascendancy in the second leg of the league, raking in eleven points out of possible 18 in six fixtures – they have won their last three fixtures, falling giants Ulinzi Stars 2-1 in the process.
A win tomorrow could see them swap positions with Ushuru to ninth with twenty nine points.
The Paul Nkata side last lost at home in May, 2015 when they went down 1-0 to champions Gor Mahia at Kisumu’s Moi Stadium, a chilling statistic Thika Coach Tim Bryett will have to contend with heading into tomorrow’s do or die tie.
The acquisition of former Gor Mahia and Ulinzi Stars forward Wycliffe Ochomo in the mid season tranfer window has proved key for Muhoroni as he has added more options in attack; the well built striker has so far netted three times.
Nigerian import Abass Akinyemi leads the scoring chart for Muhoroni with five goals followed by George Mandela with one less.
Thika United won the first leg of this match 4-2, a feat they would like to replicate on Saturday. This could however prove a huge task going by their latest league record which stands at five straight losses.
Head Coach Tim Bryett is calling on his charges to end individual mistakes which proved costly in their last league game against KCB FC, which they lost 3-2.
“It’s frustrating that our own mistakes cost us. We were guilty of making individual mistakes, we gave away a penalty under no pressure at all, making life difficult ourselves. “ Tim lamented.
Raymond Ochieng’ on six goals will be expected to partner Jackson Macharia and Kennedy Otieno in the hunt for glory for the milk men from Kiambu County.
Thika lie 11th on the KPL table with 25 points from 21 games, a win will see them jump to top ten.
Kick-off 3PM.
