Gor Mahia will travel to the coastal city of Mombasa knowing a win will edge them closer to the title. The AFC Leopards plays the last match before the drums goes silent while there are plenty of relegation scraps on display
Saturday 29 August AFC Leopards vs Chemelil Sugar
Venue: MISC Kasarani
Time: 3pm EAT
TV: SuperSport 9 East
Leopards were ordered by the league’s Independent Disciplinary and Complains Committee to play their next two matches in empty stadiums after their fans caused chaos during their fixture against Thika United in July.
This will be the last match that Leopards will play in the presence if their vocal fans before a two-match ban imposed on the club takes effect.
Zdravko Logarusic’s soap opera with AFC Leopards continues as the Croat will be missing yet again having re-surface during the aborted derby in a match that show they arch rivals Gor Mahia been awarded all the points.
Chemelil Sugar will not be an easy pull over against Ingwe
considering the fact that they hang precariously on the league’s 13th position, just two spots above the dreaded relegation zone.
Mike Mururi will be pleased with his team recent discoverer of form in the past few weeks. Last weekend, the millers recorded a 1-0 win over Nakuru All Stars, their first victory in 14 matches.
The two sides shared the spoils in their first leg fixture and this could be another cracker.
Bandari v Gor Mahia (Mombasa County Stadium, 3pm)
K’Ogalo have only managed to beat Bandari at home once in their last three trips to the dockyard in the second-leg of the 2013 season where the back-to-back champions won 1-0. Putting Gor’s 22-match unbeaten record is under serious threat.
Gor are aiming for the double against the famously
stubborn port siders after a 2-1 victory in the first leg.
For the first time since the beginning of the season, defending
champions Gor Mahia will be without their lead striker Michael Olunga, who is currently attending trials in South Africa.
Head coach Frank Nuttal has possible replacements in George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo, Timothy Otieno and Enock Agwanda available for selection.
Bandari got a point in Nairobi last weekend after a 1-1 draw with Mathare United.
Twahir Muhiddin who has gone four matches without a loss will welcome back Obungu between the sticks against Gor after serving a one match suspensions
A win for Nuttall charges will see them inch closer to retaining the title while an upset will see the Dockers increase their chances of finishing top eight.
Muhoroni Youth vs KCB (Muhoroni Stadium, 3pm)
Muhoroni Youth are definitely the team of the moment. Paul Nkata’s tactics are bearing fruits and his side look like they can do no wrong at the moment.
A 2-2 draw away to Sofapaka in their previous match brought to an end their 5-match winning run, but Muho’s character shone through the match as they came from behind twice. They host KCB who have been hard to beat lately but can’t turn draws into wins.
KCB have always gotten the better of their opponents in this fixture and won the first leg comprehensively; 3-0. However, the Bankers will dread this visit to the sugar belt.
All Stars vs Thika United
Venue: Afraha
Time: 3pm EAT
Thika ended a 7-game losing rot with a 2-0 victory over Ushuru last weekend.
It was the most perfect way for new head coach Moses Irungu to start his journey of turning around fortunes at the club.
All Stars’ Patrick Oboya and Lwambo Bebeto have been poetic at times while John Ndirangu return from his Bandari loan spell has bolstered the attack at just the right time.
The league Basement side hopes of surviving the relegation chop keep diminishing every weekend and today they will be literally fighting for their lives in the tough league against Thika United.
Sunday
Sony Sugar Fc vs Mathare United
Venue: Awendo
Time: 3pm EAT
Sony Sugar’s resurgence continued last week with a draw against KCB.
Salim Babu will be identifying this as the perfect opportunity to make a big mark end their sequence of terrible away results.
Stanley Okumbi was back in Mathare United’s touchline having announced he would step down. However, his side failed to take the three points despite the manager making 8 changes in his starting lineup.
The duo have drawn their last 5 meetings on the road and there’s every suggestion this will also end the same way.
