Two sportpesa premier league( SPL) matches involving Afc leopards and K’ogalo which were set for thursday has been called off on security ground. The premier league governing body has been forced to called off the scheduled matches citing unavailability of police due to the ongoing Nairobi International Show which started on Monday 28th September.
This follows communication from the Nairobi County Police Commandant stating that they will not be able to provide security for the two matches because they are stretched due to the on-going Nairobi International Trade Fair that is running from September 26 to October 4.
Gor Mahia were scheduled to play Western Stima at the Nyayo national Stadium at 4:15 pm while Sofapaka were scheduled to host AFC Leopards at the City Stadium from 4pm.
Police have forced Kenyan Premier League Limited to call off Thursday’s SportPesa League matches . Both Gor and Ingwe command a large following of fan who have caused uproar in the past.
Gor Mahia will therefor host Western Stima at Nyayo Stadium on November 4 while Sofapaka will play AFC Leopards on October 14 at City Stadium
Meanwhile,Friday double header match pitting Tusker against Muhoroni Youth will kickoff at 2pm while Nakuru All Stars’ match against Mathare United kicks off at 4:15pm. The two matches had initially been set for 5 and 7pm respectively but due the faulty condition of the floodlights at Nyayo stadium has matches has been brought forward.
