As SportPesa Premier League takes a month long break till July 2 after completion of the first 15 matches, June mini tranfer window officially opens tomorrow (Thursday).
A statement from Football Kenya Federation (FKF) who will run the process this season confirmed.
Normally the window runs from 1st June to 1st July but due to Wednesday (Today) 1st being a public holiday “Madaraka Day” it has been pushed to Thursday 2.
“This is to inform you that the FKF mid-season transfer window will officially be opened tomorrow, Thursday, June 2, 2016 and will come to a close on July 2, 2016 at midnight,”
“The aforementioned is so because today, Wednesday, June 1, 2016 in a national holiday here in Kenya and as required by law no business should be transacted on the day.”
The window offers teams an opportunity to strengthen their squads as title and relegation battles take shape.
Already a number of players have been linked with moves to several clubs across the 16 teams – with reigning champions leading the way.
Mathare United’s Johanna Omollo, Tusker FC’S Humphrey Mieno and former Rwandan striker Meddie Kagere have all been said to be heading to K’Ogalo.
City Stars’ Jimmy Bageya could also shift to Muhoroni Youth during the period.
AFC Leopards on the other hand are rumored to be trailing former Simba SC striker Mungai Kiongera, former captain Jackson Saleh and defender Edwin Wafula.
KPL has been a home to many players across Africa more so Uganda, who have over fourty natives in the league – and lately Rwandans and Burundians. The window could see more foreigners pour in to fill the five foreigners quota per club recommended.
