After seven months of grueling grass roots football action, the battle of supremacy between the East and West side teams in Nairobi county in the inaugural SportPesa Super 8 Premier League enters its penultimate round this weekend with seven second leg matches slated to be the played across various grounds.

Under the ‘Wakilisha Mtaa Yako’ theme, participating teams are gearing themselves for the final round of the competition with extra caution in a bid to save a slot for next year’s campaign in the top league. At the same time, teams base of the 16-team chart are struggling to survive in the lucrative championship as bottom four in the standings face relegation to the second tier, the SportPesa Super 8 Division One league.

Below is a sneak preview into the potentially action packed weekend;

SATURDAY MATCHES

TUK VS AJAX FC (1PM)

Two high profile matches are lined at Camp Toyoyo grounds on Saturday 10 September with champions TUK battling Ajax FC in a West conference meet up for the first match of the day.

The defending champions are fresh from demolishing Shamako Babes 7-0 in their last match on Saturday and will be confident of taking the three points from Ajax who managed to hold them to a barren draw in the first leg back in April.

TUK are enjoying fine form where they sit second on the log with 57 points, one point adrift of leaders Asubuhi while Ajax who beat Metro Sports 2-1 last weekend sit 5th with 48 points.

JERICHO ALL STARS VS KIAMAIKO CITY (3PM)

At 3PM, Jericho All Stars will be out to right their wrongs when they host West siders Kiamaiko City.

After their title race suffered a major setback last weekend in front of a packed City Stadium when they were shocked 1-0 by Kayole Asubuhi, Jericho who sit 3rd on the log with 56 points will be aiming to get back to winning ways with a possible win over the Citizens who sit at a distant 11 with 34 points.

During the away fixture, Jericho took the spoils after stunning the Huruma based team 3-0 and will be aiming for a double.

SUNDAY

BABA DOGO UNITED VS KAYOLE ASUBUHI (3PM)

Elsewhere, Kayole Asubuhi aim to cement their stay at the summit of the standings with a win against East conference underdogs Baba Dogo United on Sunday 11 September.

The league title hopefuls are leading the chart with 58 points after shocking Jericho All Stars 1-0 in their last game and will be hoping to collect the maximum points at the expense of the Baba Dogo who are facing relegation where they are struggling at 14th with 23 points.

MELTAH KABIRIA VS SHAURI MOYO BLUE STARS (3PM)

Melta Kabiria have a tall order when they welcome Shauri Moyo Blue Stars at Bp grounds. The Dagoretti based outfit are ranked 7th with 43 points and will be aiming to follow up their 2-1 win Kabete United last weekend.

But it will be difficult job for Melta as Shauri Moyo are doing well where they sit 4th with 52 points.

DIGUNA FC VS KABETE UNITED (3PM)

Diguna FC will at home against Kabete United at Nakeel grounds. Diguna will be out for the three points in order to climb up the log where they sit 10th with 36 points while Kabete are sitting at 12th with 36 points.

METRO SPORTS VS SHAMAKO BABES (3PM)

East siders Metro Sports will be seeking to bounce back from their 2-1 loss against Ajax last weekend with a win against minnows Shamako Babes at Stima club grounds along Thika highway.

The sportsmen are ranked 6th with 44 points and will be aiming to usurp the West conference underdogs who are now playing for honor as their fate is already sealed as they are certain of a drop to the league’s Division one in next year’s season.

After a string of poor performances where they have conceded more than 75 goals after 28 rounds of matches, Shamako are sitting at the base end of the chart with 12 points.

MASA VS KAWANGWARE UNITED (3PM)

At Makongeni grounds, Kawangware United will be guests to MASA.

MASA are yet to play their week 28 fixture where they will square it out with Kiambiu Youth in a midweek tie on Wednesday 7 September at the City Stadium. Kawangware are placed 9th with 37 points while MASA have 41 points at 8th on the log.
