Sportpesa Super 8 Premier League title charge took a dramatic twist over the weekend when log leaders Jericho All Stars faltered to allow Kayole Asubuhi to close in.
Jericho who were in action on Saturday in the opening round 23 fixture were stunned 1-0 by a resurgent Melta Kaberia, and a day later on Sunday, second placed Kayole Asubuhi who were three points a drift took full advantage beating Kabete United 2-0 to bridge the gap.
The East Conference giants with superior goal difference retain the number one spot with 46 points same as Kayole.

DIGUNA FC 5-1 BABA DOGO UNITED
Kevin Mutarakwa scored a brace to inspire Diguna FC to a 5-1 triumph over Baba Dogo United in a one sided encounter at Nakeel grounds.
Mutarakwa opened the floodgates in the 20th minute but five minutes later the match was pegged on level terms after John Mbugua scored the equalizer for Baba Dogo.
And with a continuous pressing, the home team were fired in front again, this time Samuel Kinuthia finding the back of the net in the 39th minute for the West conference team to take the driving seat but Baba were unable to contain Mutarakwa who completed his brace with four minutes remaining before the break for a 3-1 first half lead.
Upon resumption, hapless Baba Dogo were overpowered by a well organised defence that stood firm at Digunas post as their offensive attacks bore fruit in the 86th minute when Satus Okello netted the fourth before Simon Mkenya sealed the victory for the home side who jumped two spots up to 9th with 32 points.
SHAMAKO BABES 0-5 MASA
Elvis Ochieng and John Odongo each scored a brace to steer MASA to a 5-0 crushing of minnows Shamako Babes at Kabete grounds.
MASA who were pre-match favourites grabbed the lead through Odongo in the 16th minute with the second goal coming in the second half when Austin Oduor made it 2-1 for MASA in the 52nd minute.
Ochieng then capitalized on a defensive blunder by the home team in the 71 minute to score the third for Hassan Andale’s side before successfully converting a penalty four minutes after restart.
It was Odongos 86th minute strike that completely demoralized the basement side who are struggling at the base of the 16-team standings with 8 points.
MASA on the other hand have 35 points and sit 8th.
SHAURI MOYO BLUE STARS 3-2 KIAMAIKO CITY
Elsewhere at Nyayo Stadium, Shauri Moyo Blue Stars continued with their impressive run in the second leg, chalking their fourth match without a defeat after thrashing Kiamaiko City 3-1.
Rahim Malek scored a double as the Ken Odera charges kept the leagues pole position within their sight where they now sit pretty at 3rd with 43 points after the narrow win.
Ntangi Ntangi gave Kiamaiko the lead after scoring the opener in the 30th minute and soon after Stanley Nyumbu equalized for Blue Stars before Malek slotted the third goal in the 36th minute for a 2-1 lead in the opening half.
Seven minutes after the break, Malek was yet again on the mark as Blue Stars commanded the proceeding in the second half but a last minute strike by Marvin Waweru ensured Kiamaiko went down with their heads held high, a result that drops them to 13th on the log with 27 points.
On the other hand, Baba Dogo lie at position 14th with 18 points.
METRO SPORTS 1-1 KAWANGWARE UNITED
In another match, Metro Sports were held to 1-1 stalemate by visiting Kawangware United at Drive Inn grounds.
Peter Ambetsa had given Metro a dream start when he netted the opener from near post in the 35th minute as the West conference side struggled to weave a meaningful attack in vain in the first half.
After the breather, Kawangware levelled the proceedings through a penalty that Daniel Muturi in the 56th minute to ensure the West conference team took home a point that sees them sit 12th with 27 points while Metro stay 5th with 38 points.
KABETE UNITED 0-2 KAYOLE ASUBUHI
At Kabete grounds, a last gasp by strike by Moses Wanderi gave Kayole Aubuhi a resounding 2-0 away win over Kabete United.
At the stroke of half time, Brian Ochieng scored the first goal for the Kayole outfit who are now tied on 46 points with Jericho All Stars at the top of the league table standings with the latter having a superior goal difference.
The painful loss for Kabete at their backyard see them drop to 10th on the grid with 31 points.
KIAMBIU YOUTH 2-3 TUK
Jeconiah Uyoga opened the scoring for TUK ten minutes after kick-off before Stephen Odhiambo adding the second in the 38th minute as the university students took control of the first period.
The hotly contested match brought back bitter memories from last years Super 8 finals where the TUK claimed the gong after beating Kimabiu on penalties and this time round the hosts were in no mood to go down easily as they redoubled their efforts which paid when James Mandela shook the net in the 46th minute.
Five minutes later, Caleb Omondi brought Kiambiu back in contention with a screamer for a 2-2 score line that lasted until the 61st minute when Lotan Mwagodi netted the third for TUK.
However, the match failed to come to an end as crowd trouble made the match to be abandoned with less than four minutes remaining. It remains to be seen what action will be taken to deter such vices from occurring in the near future.
