University students TUK clobbered whipping boys Kiamaiko City 3-1 as the Sportpesa Super 8 Premier League second stanza kicked off with a bang on Saturday.
A brace from sensational Jeconiah Uyoga and a goal from Ibande Mike saw the West Conference outfit storm to third on the table standings with thirty points. The visitors’ lone goal was scored by Moses Wakanya.
The early match at Camp Toyoyo served nothing but football bliss to the many fans who turned up for the treat.
TUK, who were the superior side in the game, went ahead in the 19th minute through Mike who smashed home from a close range for a 1-0 lead – the scoreline that never changed into the interval despite Kiamaiko coming close a couple of times.
Kiamaiko looked more organized on resumption as they surged forward to restore parity – this came less than ten minutes to the hour mark, when Moses Wakaya drilled in the equalizer to the relief of the technical bench.
However, TUK were not done just yet as they upped their game having sensed danger. Jeconiah who was always a lingering threat to the Kiamaiko defense pounced three minutes to stopped time to restore the lead with his 12th goal of the season; he struck again on the dot to guarantee the three valuable.
Jeconiah is now a goal less from matching the leading goal scorer Francis Thairu of Kawangware United as the race for the golden boot hots up.
– In the second match at Toyoyo, third placed Shauri Moyo Blue Stars were shocked 1-0 by neighbors and ninth placed Kiambiu Youth.
James Mandela who was returning after serving a five match made his presence felt, banging in the all important goal in the ninth minute.
Shauri drop down the pecking order to fourth on the log as they swap positions with TUK who have a better goal difference – Kiambiu on the other hand climbs a step further to eighth.
