In a week littered with equal number of draws as wins, East Conference bigwigs Jericho All Stars came out the biggest gainers – managing to move further apart at the top of the log.
Despite being held 2-2 at their fortress, Camp Toyoyo, on Saturday by Diguna, the one point gained stretched Jericho’s lead at the apex of Sportpesa Super 8 Premier League to three points, thanks to Kayole Asubuhi’s 1-0 loss in the hands of Ajax FC.
Metro Sports bounced back with a 2-1 win against Kiambiu Youth as Shamako Babes benefited from a walkover handed to them by Kayole Asubuhi.

KAWANGWARE UNTED 1-2 MELTA KABIRIA
Melta Kabiria take the bragging rights after Sammy Agesa netted twice to steer his side to their third victory on the trot after seeing off conference rivals and bitter neighbours Kawangware United 2-1 in a hotly contested Dagoretti derby at BP grounds.
Robinson Njoroge scrambled home the opener from near post 4 minutes after kick off to set Kawangwares ship sailing but Agesa equalized from the penalty mark four minutes later after team mate Francis Wambora was hacked down in the dangerous.
Kawangware again found themselves on the receiving end moments later when centre referee Amos Ichingwa pointed to the 6 yard spot after a dangerous foul was committed against Melta in the forbidden area. Agesa stepped up and calmly swept home the decisive penalty for a 2-1 first half lead that sent the packed venue into a raucous celebration.
Francis Thairus Kawangware threw every weapon they had at Melta who sought to pitch camp at their post thwarting any efforts by the hosts to equalize.
The impressive performance by Shadrack Atekas men catapults them three places up to 7th on the log with 33 points as Kawangware, who boast the current top scorer are still struggling at 12th with 26 points.
AJAX FC 1-0 KAYOLE ASUBUHI
Elsewhere at Nakeel grounds, Kayole Asubuhi suffered their second successive loss after Kevin Owiyo struck the only goal of the match in the 41st minute to hand Ajax FC all the three points to the delight of the home fans.
The match should have produced more goals but the visiting East conference team failed to maximize on their chances and Ajax knew when to sting and they closed the business in the first half, a win which sees them stay 7th with 32 points.
It was a disappointing loss for the Isaiah Omondi charges who were aiming to close in on Jericho All Stars who have 45 points at the summit of the log but the defeat for Kayole means that they trail the leaders by three points.
METRO SPORTS 2-1 KIAMBIU YOUTH
In another match, Metro Sports capitalized heavily on home support to dispatch Kiambiu Youth 2-1 at home.
Julius Andede grabbed a brace to inspire his side to the win that keeps alive Metros dream of finishing at the top three in the league.
He fired the hosts in front in the 10th minute take control of the first period and later swept home the second in the 65th minute but James Mandela made sure Kiambiu went home with their heads high by reducing the deficit in the 72nd minute.
By the final whistle, the home team held firm to the advantage which guaranteed them the three points that better their point tally to 37 at position 5 on the log while on the other hand Kiambiu slump to 10th with 32 points.
BABA DOGO UNITED 1-1 SHAURI MOYO BLUE STARS
At Drive-Inn grounds, Kevin Owino denied Shauri Moyo Blue Stars an easy win by cancelling out Rahim Malik early opener.
It was an evenly balanced duel and the guests started on a dream start with Malik shaking the net as early as the 3rd minute as his side remained calm while enjoying the possession in the opening exchanges.
But Owino, out of the blues save the situation when he dinked home the equalizer with four minutes remaining in the first half and tighten the grip on the single point until the end of the match.
The draw roots Blue Stars at 3rd on the log with 40 points while Baba Dogo also remains unchanged at 14th with 19 points so far.
JERICHO ALL STARS 2-2 DIGUNA
Jericho All Stars went three points clear atop of the SportPesa Super 8 Premier League table standings after being forced to share the points in a dramatic 2-2 scoreline against Diguna FC at Camp Toyoyo.
Jericho’s quest to widen the gulf at the helm was denied by Kevin Mutarakrwa who netted twice in the match to force a point out of the East conference powerhouse.
Jericho had received the first goal through Richard Madegwa who opened the scoring in the 11th minute but their celebrations were cut shot soon after by Mutarakwa who replied for Diguna two minutes later.
Jericho found themselves in a damp situation seven minutes into the second half when charged-up Mtarakwa again shook the net for a 2-1 lead that only lasted for a few minutes as Victor Walera made sure the home team lived to die another day after slotting the leveler just at the hour mark.
By sharing the pie, title chasers Jericho take their point haul to 46 ahead of tomorrow’s fixtures while Diguna remain unmoved at 11th with an improved 29 points.
KABETE UNITED 0-0 KIAMAIKO CITY
Kiamaiko City held firm to a point while playing against Kabete United at Huruma grounds after settling for a barren stalemate.
After starting the match on a sound note, visiting Kabete’s strikers failed to nail it in the first half where they wasted clear chances. Noticing their early aggressivness, Kiamaiko tightened their defense in the final half to deny the Kabete an easy win which kept intact a three match unbeaten streak in the competition.
While the draw was deservedly for Kiamaiko, it proved helpful for Kabete who are working to draw closer to the top five as they sit 8th with 30 points. Kiamaiko on the other hand are placed 13th with 27 points.
TUK 1-1 MASA
East conference leaders TUK played to a dull 1-1 draw with MASA in a lunchtime kick-off at Camp Toyoyo grounds.
TUK’s nightmare to fall again against the East conference team was set rolling by Victor Agogo at the stroke of half time to who kept alive MASA’s quest to completely overpower the hosts.
But the university students who were eager to overturn their 2-0 first leg opener replied through Stephern Odhiambo in the 58th minute to ink TUK’s second draw in as many matches.
The point adds Francis Oduor’s TUK tally to 39 while comfortably sitting 3rd on the table while the Makongeni boys stay at 6th with 32 points.
