In the wake of a few isolated incidences of unsporting behaviours involving some players, technical staff and fans during league matches, Extreme Sports, the umbrella body which runs the Super 8 League has made it clear that such acts are unacceptable.
They have assured of improved security during matches and tougher actions against the enemies of the beautiful game, who wants to soil it’s image.
The Full Statement:
The indiscipline and criminal behaviour of a few individuals in our grassroots football is completely unacceptable. This vice is threatening to destroy the progress that has been built over several years and in the process ruin the lives of genuinely hard working players, coaches, referees and other stakeholders.
We understand the competitive nature of our League and emotions can run high but there is never an excuse for violent behaviour and hooliganism has no place in our Super 8 family. We wish to assure all our fans, clubs, referees and stewards that from today henceforth, extra security measures shall be put in place during each game.
We shall also hold each individual responsible for their action. We promise you that there shall be no sacred cows or exceptions in this war. All cases since the beginning of the League shall be reported to relevant authorities for further action.
We take this opportunity to thank all the clubs and fans that have maintained high disciplinary standards during all our activities. Together we shall build a football brand we can all be proud of.
