The tight race in the SportPesa Super 8 Premier League under the ‘Wakilisha Mtaa Yako’ campaign enters its 28th round this weekend with seven thrilling second-leg matches slated to entertain fans who will be treated to football action and entertainment as Extreme Sports Limited, organizers of the league hosts the Super Sunday football bonanza on Sunday 4th at the City Stadium, Nairobi
The Super Sunday is family event is aimed at bringing back fans to the stadium in a bid to support grass root talent by rallying behind their community clubs who are participating in the league which is now in the final stages
Aside from the popular performing music artists, three captivating matches will be the main highlight of the day as teams will be aiming for the maximum points now that the competition is in its climax. However before that, three matches will kick-off on Saturday 3 September across different locations in Nairobi.
SATURDAY MATCHES
TUK VS SHAMAKO BABES (3PM)
A double header is on the offing at Camp Toyoyo grounds where champs Technical University of Kenya (TUK) from the West conference continue with their title defending charge against underdogs Shamako Babes in a lunchtime kick-off.
The university students are within sight of the crown where they sit 3rd on the grid with 54 points after hammering Kabete United 3-0 in their last match and will be seeking nothing but a win against fellow West siders Shamako whose abysmal performance in the competition hit a new low after being dismissed 5-0 by Shauri Moyo Blue Stars last weekend stamping their relegation ticket as they sit at the bottom of the 16-team log with a meager 12 points.
METRO SPORTS VS AJAX FC (1PM)
In an early kick-off at the same venue, Metro Sports face a tricky Ajax FC. The Sportsmen will be seeking to leapfrog visiting Ajax on the chart where they sit at 6th with 44 points.
After beating Diguna FC 1-0 last Sunday, Ajax will be seeking to follow up the win that placed them 5th with 45 points.
BABA DOGO UNITED VS KIAMAIKO CITY (3PM)
Elsewhere, Baba Dogo United welcomes Kiamaiko City at Baba Dogo grounds. The hosts are facing relegation from the East conference but after beating Kiambiu Youth 2-1 in their last fixture, they will be confident of hitting the citizens who are languishing at 13th with 31 points. On the other hand, Baba Dogo sits 14th with 23 points.
SUNDAY MATCHES
KAYOLE ASUBUHI VS JERICHO ALL STARS (3PM)
At the City Stadium, it will be a full throttle when leaders Jericho All Stars take on title chasers Kayole Asubuhi in a high profile match that will be the highlight of the day.
Jericho are leading the standings with 56 points but face a strong opposition from Asubuhi who are also in contention of the title as they are sitting behind them with one point less.
After settling for a one all draw in the first leg, it is anticipated that both sides will draw all their weapons in a bid to collect the maximum points which will be a decider as the competition nears the final bend.
DIGUNA FC VS SHAURI MOYO BLUE STARS (1PM)
After that, Diguna FC will have an uphill climb when they take on Shauri Moyo Blue Stars in a West Vs East conference encounter in the second match of the day.
Shauri Moyo are sitting 4th on the standings with 49 points and will be aiming to go up on the log with a possible win over the Rongai based team who are placed 9th with 36 points.
KABETE UNITED VS MELTAH KABIRIA (11 AM)
Kabete United will be at home against Meltah Kabiria in a West conference derby that will be the curtain raiser match.
Kabete who are placed 11th with 32 points are seeking bounce back from their 0-3 humiliation by TUK last Sunday when the play with Kabiria who are two spots above at 8th with 40 points. The last time these two sides met, Melta took the spoils after a 2-0 win over the Kabete based team and will be aiming for a double over the hosts.
