Kenya Premier League side Gor Mahia are through to the semi-finals of the SportPesa Super Cup after beating Zanzibar’s Jang’ombe Boys 2-0 on Tuesday at the Uhuru Stadium.

Meddie Kagere made a loud note with a brace in the second half 64th and 84th to hand K’ogalo the all important ticket into the semi-finals.

The ‘hosts’ however caused a scare to Gor Mahia in the first half threatening to score early goal.

K’ogalo however gave a positive response with Meddie Kagere and Timothy Otieno leading the rest of the team in an attempt to hit the high flying Zanzibaris. This was however not an easy nut to crack sending the match into halftime goaless.

The second half marked the full resuscitation of Gor Mahia as the team went all out in attack against their opponents and ensuring that the remained in their half for the better part of it.

Ruga Hasham between the posts for Jang’ombe was largely to blame for the Kagere header in the 46th after he misjudged the ball delivered from Kenneth Miguna in right flank.

He was however available to stop consecutive attempts by both Kagere and Otienoall of whom appeared dangerous in front of goal. He could however not stop an Meddie Kagere penalty in the 84th minute when a Jang’ombe player was judged to have handled George ‘Blackberry” Odhiambo that handed Kogalo the ticket to the next round.
