Nairobi City Stars forward Jimmy Bageya is the Sportpesa sponsored Sports Journalist Association of Kenya (SJAK) player of the month of October.
Bageya emerged tops in the second round of voting by a panel of judges consisting seven journalists after garnering 16 points same as Gor Mahia’s mercurial Michael Olunga in the first round.
The tie breaker gave the pint sized Ugandan four of the seven votes cast confirming him as the King of October in the Kenyan Premier League. Bageya stood tall in City’s brave fight to survive the chop for the second season running in the just concluded league scoring in their crucial game against relegated KCB.
He also netted the lone goal against Ushuru FC to firmly put their fate in their own hands as they went ahead to survive relegation on the final day.
Bandari’s David King’atua came a distant third.
The award comes with a beautiful trophy, a cheque worth Kshs 50,000 and a 43” flat screen TV from awards partner LG. He is the 8th winner of the monthly award after Ali Abondo,Karim Nzigiyimana, Meddie Kagere (Gor Mahia), John Makwata (Ulinzi Stars), Gabriel Andika (Western Stima), Jesse Were (Tusker) and George Mandela (Muhoroni Youth).
