KABETE UNITED VS KIAMBIU YOUTH (3PM)
With a golden opportunity of breaking into the Sportpesa Super 8 Premier League top four, on form Kabete United will be seeking to carry their recent winning formula into round 6 when they host unpredictable Kiambiu Youth FC in what will be the highlight match of the weekend at Kabete grounds on Sunday 9th April.
This is just one of eight riveting fixtures which will serve a special treat to grass root football lovers all over Nairobi county as the second edition of the competitive championship gathers more mould.
After a rocky start of the season where they were rooted at the base end of the log, giant slayers Kabete who presently occupy 6th spot with nine points will be hoping to make it four wins on the bounce when they clash with the visiting East Conference who trail them by two points at 7th position.
Kabete under mentorship of Peter Opiyo survived the relegation chop last season have steadily tamed their campaign after losing their opening two games. The surprising 2-1 win over defending champions Kayole Asubuhi two weeks ago was a key turning point for the West conference side who have since whipped Macmillan FC 2-0 at home before felling another giant in the form of Jericho FC 2-1 last Saturday.
“Morale is high within the team especially after beating Jericho it showed we are not where we were when we started the season and that is what is important for us at the moment, keep improving with each game. We lost to Kiambiu last season but this is a different team we have new players who bring in new energy so I am confident we will beat them come Saturday.”
Hot on the heels of a morale boosting 3-1 home win over Ole Rongai FC last weekend, Raul Oduor’s Kiambiu head into this match aiming to leapfrog their hosts on the log.
Last season, Kiambiu were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw in the first leg before they took the away spoils in the second leg by humbling Kabete 2-1.
Kiambiu coach, Raul said, “We are ready for them (Kabete) it is a matter of who will get the three points but from my assessment of how training session with the boys has been, I believe we will win this game. I know gaining three points away is not easy but the confidence is there, fitness also so I believe we are well prepared. ”
SHAURI MOYO BLUE STARS FC VS KAYOLE ASUBUHI (11 AM)
Stuttering East conference giants Shauri Moyo Blue Stars will be desperately searching for their first win this season when the take on defending champions Kayole Asubuhi at the iconic Ziwani. Mohammed Zuberi’s Blue Stars are currently sitting 13th with three points and have a tall order against revived Asubuhi who sit 6th with six points.
TEAM UMEME VS MASA (3PM)
Fifth placed MASA visits the same grounds to tackle rookies Team Umeme who are sitting at 12th with four points. Umeme suffered their third defeat of the season last weekend when they went down 0-1 at the hands of Meltah Kabiria and will be aiming to put behind the uninspiring results when they take on the Makongeni based side who have 9 points but have a game in hand.
TUK FC VS MACMILLAN FC (3PM)
Struggling TUK FC who are also winless this season will be hoping to get their act together when they invite newcomers Macmillan FC at CID grounds in South C. Lukas Aluoch’s university students are languishing at second from below with two points and have another chance at breathing some life into their campaign when they take on Joseph Ochieng’s Macmillan who are hold forte at the end the log.
OLE RONGAI FC VS KAWANGWARE UNITED (3PM)
Leaders Kawangware United will be away to Ole Rongai FC at Nazareen grounds seeking to widen the gap atop to 6 points. Kawangware who beat NYSA 1-0 last week are currently leading the 16-team pack with 13 points and are bookmakers’ favourites against Ole Rongai who sit 9th with 4 points from one win and a draw.
AJAX YOUTH FC VS MELTAH KABIRIA FC (1PM)
Ajax Youth FC will hope to find inspiration from their home fans at Ngong Posta grounds in Rongai to floor West conference rivals Meltah Kabiria. Ajax who are winless so far sit 14th on three points while Meltah are placed 11th with 5 points.
NYSA VS ZAMALEK FC (3PM)
And completing a double header at the same venue, new entrants Zamalek FC will seek motivation from their last performance which was probably their biggest so far where they outclassed experienced TUK 1-0 to inflict the same on hosts NYSA. Kamukunji based Zamalek sit at a distant 8th with 7 points while NYSA who sit comfortably at second spot with 10 points will be aiming to recover from their first loss of the season where they went down 1-0 away to Kawangware last weekend.
METRO SPORTS FC VS JERICHO FC (3PM)
Ezekiel Akwana’s Metro Sports FC who are sitting pretty at third with 10 points invite Jericho FC at Drive Inn grounds looking to take catch up with the leaders Kawangware United. They will first have to get past wounded Jericho who are still bitter from their last duty where they were humiliated 2-1 by Kabete United that left them at 9th with 6 points.
