Former KCCA FC striker Geoffrey Sserunkuma is the 2016/2017 Azam Premier League Player of the Year.

The forward beat a strong opposation to win the Most Valuable Player award in the UPL awards held at the Imperial Royale Hotel.

Sserunkuma beat Onduparaka and Uganda Cranes forward Mohammed Shaban who is also reigning Airtel-Fufa player of the 2015/2016 season as well as SC Villa’s Emmnuel Okwi.

For his reward,Sserunkuma drove away Subaru Imprezza as well as Sh 2 million cash prize.

Before being named MVP,Sserunkuma had been named Fan’s player of the year as well as top scorer with 21goals while his coach then at KCCA Mike Mutebi won Coach of the Year for the second year running.

Sserunkuma led KCCA to win the Azam Uganda Premier League and the Uganda Cup.

Fair play individual of the season – Frederick Ssenoga ( provided vehicle to transport Onyebuchi who suffered a broken leg)

Best goalkeeping coach: Kiggundu Stephen Billy (Vipers)
