Uganda Cranes striker Brian Umony was in scoring form last weekend when he helped St George beat Sidama Coffee FC 2-1 at the Addis Ababa Stadium.
Umony who joined the Ethiopian Club in February from Uganda’s KCCA FC scored the second goal in the 62nd minute after Adane Girma had put the home in the lead. Kenyan import Eric Muranda netted the consolation goal for Sidama Coffee.
Muranda could have grabbed a brace but his goal bound header in the 79th minute was saved by Ugandan international shot-stopper Robert Odongkara.
St. George are top of the 14 team Ethiopian Premier League log on 35 points similar to Sidama Coffee, but with a better goal difference after 18 rounds of play.
Umony who was part of the Cranes team in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers only returned to Ugandan League champions KCCA FC last year after his contract with Tanzanian Champions Azam FC was not renewed.
He later impressed for KCCA FC during the 2014 Kagame Club Championship in Kigali before the Ethiopian giants signed him.
Besides goalkeeper Odongkara and Umony, defender Isaac Isinde is the other Ugandan International featuring for St George.
