Ethiopia giants St.George romped into the CAF Champions league round two after a 1-1 draw against St.Michel of Seychelles in an entertaining match played on Saturday afternoon.
In essence Sanjaw as they are popularly known go through with a 4-1 aggregate after they demolished St.Michel 3-0 in the first round played in Addis Ababa.
The Ethiopians begun the game like a house on fire and Ramkel Lok put them ahead with a beautiful goal as they went to the break leading 1-0.However upon resumption St.Michel came back firing from all cylinders and their efforts paid off handsomely when they got the equalizer to make it 1-1 but it was too late to salvage a win.
In the first leg St. George had a 3-0 win over the visiting side St. Michel United at the Addis Ababa Stadium. St. George beat St. Michel with goals from Adane Girma at the 16th minute, Behailu Assefa, widely known as Tusa, at the 42nd minute and Okwara Godwin at the 83rd minute to seal the score line at 3-0.
St.George will now face off with Congolese giants who happen to be the CAF champions league defending champions TP Mazembe who clinched a third African Super Cup following a 2-1 win over Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel in Lubumbashi on Saturday.
The three-time African Super Cup winners TP Mazembe got a bye to the next round .and will now face the Ethiopian in what is expected to be a ding dong battle.
