Ethiopian premier League giants Kidus Giorgis also known as St.George pulled a fantastic performance on Sunday afternoon upsetting 2012 champions Dedebit 2-0 in an entertaining match played at the National Stadium in Addis Ababa.
St.George who are chasing current leaders Sidama Bunna who have amassed 27 points begun the game like a house on fire as they fired from all cylinders.
Towering defender Salhadin Bargicho broke the deadlock for Giorgis with a superb overhead kick in the 16th minute to give his side a deserved lead as Dedebit huffed and puffed chasing the ball . The remainder of the first half was a cagey affair as both sides pressed hard but their efforts were not enough as the game went to the break with St.George leading by a solitary goal.
St.George came from the break more rejuvenated and breathing fire and in the 53rd minute impressive Alula Girma out them ahead with a clinical finish to give Giorgis. 2-0 cushion.
Dedebit failed to capitalise on their chances as St.George remained composed and thwarted every move holding on to the 2-0 to the game ended in their favour moving them to 24 points just three shy off league leaders Sidama Bunna who drew 1-1 with Ethiopia Nigd Bank on Saturday.
“I am really happy with the win as it was a good performance by the entire tea and my goal was the icing on the cake as we seek to move to the top of the league “goal scorer Alula Girma told soka25east.com
