Angola and Burkina Faso played to a goalless draw in a CHAN Group D opener in Morocco.
In a match of few chances,Angola enjoyed most of the possession but Paty failed to convert three clear chances and To Carneiro was far from his brilliant best.
Only a handful of chances fell to Burkina Faso and midway through the opening half, Moise Zongo almost had the ball in the back of the net but was ruled offside.
The game continued to ebb and flow with both teams happy to sit back and hit their opponents on the counter-attack, which made for a cagey showdown.
In second half, Burkina Faso began to be the more dominant team in the second half and Zongo really should have put them ahead in the 57th minute, but he inexplicably missed the target from close range with just Landu to beat.
Angola had a clear chance to score just after the hour mark with Almeida being the victim with his effort was blocked in the box by Fousseni Beao for unfruitful corner.
Just under 10 minutes later Angola were saved by the woodwork, as a deflected shot from Abdoul Abass Guiro looped over the reach of Landu but rebounded off the crossbar and away to safety.
That was to be the last notable goalmouth action at either end of the field as the teams settled for a goalless draw.
