Harambee Stars stand-in coach Stanley Okumbi has been redeployed to the Kenya U-20 team with immediate effect while the entire technical bench has been disbanded as the team awaits the unveiling of a new coach.

Speaking to soka25east.com from Casablanca,Morocco before the team boarded flight back to Kenya Football Kenya Federation(FKF) President Nick Mwendwa confirmed that indeed Okumbi had been redeployed.

“Yes its true Okumbi has been redeployed to our U-20 team and its important to note that we had to travel with him to Morocco since we had no other coach after Paul Put resigned”

“We will be unveiling a new coach on May 1st 2018 and he will have his own technical bench to help him move the team forward.I belive we have alot to do and learn from the friendlies against CAR and Comoros and they were a good eye opener to know our strengths and weaknesses”Mwendwa told soka25east.com

Stanely Okumbi had been the senior team coach until Belgian Paul Put took charge in 2017 but later resigned in a huff in 2018 taking up another job as Guinea coach.

Harambee Stars drew 2-2 against Comoros and later fell 2-3 against Central Africa Republic in the FIFA international week in matches played in Marrakech,Morocco where the team camped for 10 days.
