Stanley Okumbi to replace Bobby Williamson as Harambee Stars Coach.

It’s official, Scotsman Bobby Williamson is no longer at the helm of Kenya’s senior football team the “Harambee Stars” – in his place, former Mathare United tactician Stanley Okumbi is lined up to take over.

This came to fore during Thursday’s Nation Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, which tackled at length a range of issues, including the future of the national team ahead of AFCON qualifiers in March.

Okumbi will have two deputies in former Kenya international Musa Otieno and Frank Ouna who currently is holding a similar position at 15-time Kenyan league champions Gor Mahia.

“They will be unveiled tomorrow (Saturday 20) at Pan Afric Hotel,Nairobi. We want to give local coaches a chance to prove their worth in the AFCON qualifiers.” A source told Soka25east.com.

Williamson joined Stars in 2014 from Gor Mahia after guiding K’Ogalo to a historic 14th league title, he took over from Adel Amrouche who failed to qualify the national side to AFCON 2015.

Not much can be said about his achievements at Stars, apart from beating highly fancied Cape Verde 1-0 in the Russia World Cup qualifiers, which the team eventually bowed out of.
