The Dar es salaam derby is back and thuis time even bigger.One of east africa’s fierce derby will be in the offing tomorrow at the National stadium in Dar.the most attended derby in the region and the entire africa will take place tomorrow at 4pm.
This is the showpiece that defines the tanzanian football with close to 60,000 attendance at the national stadium with more than 3 million viewers across africa and beyond .
When these two teams meet, the whole East Africa shakes as most of the fans of these two clubs are from various countries example Young African (Popular known as YANGA) has many fans in Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi while its rival club Simba as many fans from Sudan Kenya and Zambia.
a look at the derby,Simba seam to have an edge this time and are confident of extending their lead at the top of the league while Yanga who are smarting from a painful loss at Shinyanga to Stand United are wounded and would want to redeem themselves.
Since beating Simba 2-0 in February this year ,Yanga have played 16 league matches, won 11 drawn 4 and only lost one ,their last fixture with stand United.The jangwani based side are third in the league with 10 points after playing five matches while Simba are unbeaten so far with 16 points after 6 matches
Simba coach Omog will be in charge for the first time in a derby match and would want to better what his predecessor Mayanja did.Mayanja had before the derby won his first six matches before losing 2-0 to Yanga.they had beaten Mtibwa Sugar 1-0,won away 0-2 at Ruvu before humiliating African sports and Mgambo 4-0 and 5-1 respectively .They continued with a 0-1 win at Kagera before stopping Stand United 2-1.
On his part cameroonian Joseph Omog who has handled both Azam and AC leopards has won five matches and drawn one before the clash tomorrow.they began their league title quest with a 3-1 win over Ndanda before being held by Ruvu Shooting to a goalless draw.They went on to beat Mtibwa sugar 2-0 and giant Azam 0-1 before humiliating Majimaji 4-0.
Meanwhile both teams are already in Dar es salaam for the big clash,Simba who were at Morogoro were the first to arrive while Yanga who were camping in Pembe arrived hours later
