Should we seriously blame the exco only for the MUFULIRA WANDERERS ISSUES ?
The moment Kabwe Warriors beat Mufulira Wanderers in Kabwe 3-1, the writings were clear on the wall that the road was rough!!!
Prior to that Manfred Chabinga had not done a lot to bring in players to the team and claimed he had the team to compete ! He lost Jacob Ngulube to Nkana and i remember Jacob sighted at the training but he was frozen out. The end result was the best player for mighty at that time joining Nkana.
Manfred had a chance to sign Kasusu and Claude Bwalya that off season and the reason the players never joined is the question that Manfred can only answer.
After the Kabwe Warriors defeat he resigned with a reason that fans insulted him too much. To me it looked like he had planned for that move and he knew exactly what he was doing!!!
In between that time we heard of Chewe and Kashimoto but the chosen one looked to have been Coach Coahch Ahmed Soliman who insiders believe he was brought by Macha Chilemena with the influence of Supporters Society.
If that was true then you would start wondering what could have been the role of the Exco in the Soliman capture. The fight with FAZ to make sure he seats on the bench was testament enough that Soliman was needed!!!
Those delays made him pave way for Silva who had just left Dynamos of Zimbabwe to come to Zambia and coach MUFULIRA WANDERERS. That away game at Zesco United and leading in that game , people would have thought Paulo Silva Jorge was the saviour and Mighty would then be back.
But players were never free and happy with the Portuguese , it is at this time that rumours of protests during the games by players was seen and heard. Players never wanted Silva and the fans sided with the players and when it was the time for Silva to go , no much complaints were heard and I would say this was the time I thought all parties had agrees to let the Portuguese go!!!!!
But wait a minute , the favourite Suleiman after being excused managed to have his papers which were missing and maybe just maybe you would think the team released Silva fast knowing the Egyptian was in the waiting.
The Egyptian was back and he did what no one expected ! Made Mighty survive relegation with two crucial games. Napsa away and Zesco at home! With the abandoned game at Arthur Davies as cream on the cake!!!!l
2017 Season
Rumours are just rumours but these turned out to be true ….the worst exodus in three years at Shinde, Taonga to ZANACO, Mike to Green Buffaloes, Warren Kunda to Green Eagles , together with Progress Kalenga, Alan Kamwanga Junior to Power Dynamos depleted the core team of Mighty and there was no way Suleiman would have survived worse off their long chase Ushindi slipped off once again.
But is the Exco only to blame?
Big question and I think my opinion is NO! All stakeholders here are to blame, the sponsor, players , supporters, exco and the coaches . this is the team that never took criticism lightly in the 2015 season when they thought they would be the mighty of the old.
They never saw what some people saw and reality has set up! There is no way supporter s would blame the exco when they have also played a part in the running of the club! This is done in unison and the Supporters may also be told that you are the ones who brought Suleiman….
The next step determines where Mighty will end at come December and another wrong move and the zones are calling. The Challenge at the moment is not the coach but the team doesn’t have players to compete at that level.
Mighty now need a coach who can get as much points as possible and wait for the transfer window to break their bank and survive the season.
Its a rough one!!!
Follower of the Zambian game!!!!!
