By Ali Baein,
Talented Ethiopian left back Abebaw Butako was on Thursday axed by Sudanese giants Al Hilal together with Malian Souleymane Konate.
It has not been an easy ride for Abebaw Butako one of the best and natural left full back that showed so much potential while playing at St.George in Ethiopia where he was a regular both for the club and national team Walia Ibex.
However the technical bench at Al Hilal decided to offload the star player intimating that he had failed to live up to expectations as told to Soka25east.com by a close source at the club who sort anonymity.
“Abebaw Butako was an exceptional player when Al Hilal offered him a chance but he failed to give his best at the club to earn a regular place in the team a fact that contributed to him being axed”
“The player had been notified by the technical bench that he needed to put more effort but after further consideration it was only possible to let him go as he did not meet the coach’s expectations in line with his contractual obligation on the number of games he was supposed to play”the source told Soka25east.com
Sudan has been a tough hunting ground for Ethiopian players and just recently Shemeles Bekele also left Al Mereikh in a huff but later shined in Egypt where he moved to later after his contract was terminated.
Efforts to reach the soft spoken Abebaw Butako were fruitless as his phone went unanswered.
