The 9th edition of Super 8 soccer tournament returns into action next month after a 3 year break with the registration of clubs seeking to take part having started today and coming to a close on 20th February this year at a cost of kshs 3000 each

The initiative CEO Hussein Mohammed who lost to Sam Nyamweya in Football Kenya Federation 2011 elections denied that the upcoming October polls is the reason behind staging the extravaganza.
’’People should not read malice in our comeback this year.All we intend to do is upbring the talents of our boys who for a long time have lacked a platform to showcase their capability.This is not campaign strategy as reported by most people outside there’’
An average of 90 teams from all 17 constituencies in Nairobi County and playing in 8 regions are set participate this year in a competition which would see all games played on knock out basis over the weekends for the entire duration.Preliminaries will occur at grassroot grounds while the regional and quarter finals to Grand Finale will be played at the Nyayo stadium.
’’As usual the tournament which starts next month will witness participation of about 90 teams.They should be from Nairobi County and not taking part in Kenya Premier League or Nationwide.We seek to promote teams that lack publicity and resources as well ’’
The total prize money for the tourney is Kshs 1,430,000 with the winning side taking home Kshs 500,000 while the runner up pockets Kshs 250,000.3rd Placed side will be Kshs 100,000 richer where as super 8 regional champions consisting of 5 teams are guaranteed of Kshs 60,000 each.Regional level 2nd place comprising of 8 teams earn Kshs 15,000 per team as 3rd and 4th positions of 16 teams in every region takes home 10,000 each
