The 2016 Africa Womens Cup of Nations champions, Nigeria arrived in Lagos yesterday after a succesful outing at the continetal tournament held in Cameroon.
The champions were received at the Murtala Muhammad Airport by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Amaju Pinnick and other board members amid allegations of improper treatment from the soccer body officials before departure.
Reports from Nigeria indicate that the NFF officials came to Younde and left immediately aboard a chattered flight leaving the girls to travel by road to Doula without making a promise on when the players will be receiving their allowances.
Immediately after arrival in Lagos the soccer bosses led the team to visit the team sponsors Emzor Phamaceticals officials. After the meeting,the team was told to travel to Abuja to meet Sports Minister and the NFF for settling of their outstanding allowances.
However latest reports indicate that the angry players are about march in protest over unpaid benefits as upto now the Sport Ministry have failed to honour the promise.
Sources close to the team techinical bench informs that coaches are owed their monthly salaries and camp allowances and match bonuses since March while the players are yet to receive winning bonuses for the two qualifiers against Senegal, as well as camp allowances for their period in camp and the winning bonuses for all matches in Cameroon.
