Tuso Phala struck late in stoppage time to earn Supersport United a 2-2 draw against Zesco United and qualification to the semi-finals of the CAF Confederations Cup.
The teams were coming into the second leg match at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola this afternoon having settled for a goalless draw in the first leg.
Zesco United came out of the blocks early John Chingandu scoring early in the 6th minute.
Thuso Phala then grabbed the crucial away goal for the visitors on 34 minutes, Jacob Banda’s goalkeeping skills coming into question.
It was 1 all the break with Zesco needing a reaction in the second half.
And it came through Kenyan International David Owino Odhiambo strike from a Fackson Kapumbu corner in the 49th minute.
Zesco United should have wrapped the match late on with Odhiambo’s header cannoning off the cross bar.
With the match almost done and dusted, Thuso Phala went against the script to complete his brace and send his side through on away goals.
Once again Zesco United falling at the hands of South African opposition.
