Qualification for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Cameroon officially gets underway this weekend and will be broadcast live on SuperSport.
Forty-eight nations drawn in 12 groups of four will contest the group stages. Group winners along with the three best-finishing runners-up advance to the finals.
Kicking off the qualifiers is a blockbuster: Nigeria against South Africa. The old foes find themselves in the same Afcon qualifying group for the second time in the last three qualifying campaigns. And, with only the group winner guaranteed qualification, one can expect two classic encounters between the nations.
Having missed out on Gabon earlier this year, former champions Zambia, plus Angola, Ethiopia and Kenya, will all be looking to start their campaigns on a winning note to set themselves on the way to Cameroon.
Preceding the qualifiers on Friday is another international football blockbuster, Brazil against Argentina, the number one and two-ranked nations in the world. Unusually, the match which will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and is expected to draw a 100 000-strong crowd.
The match is live on SuperSport 3 HD from 11.50am.
