The razzmatazz has started as SuperSport United booked their place in a third successive MTN8 final with a 2-0 (3-1 on aggregate win over Mamelodi Sundowns at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgevile on Wednesday evening.
Following a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture, Matsatsanta had it all to do in what was effectively an away game against their Tshwane rivals at the stadium which both teams call home.
Teboho Mokoena, though, cancelled out the Brazilians away goal as early as the 12th minute, driving home a powerful shot following a mistake by Rivaldo Coetzee.
SuperSport were the better team throughout and eventually put the game to bed with four minutes of regulation time remaining. As for the first goal, Thamsanqa Gabuza turned provider, teeing up Jamie Webber who struck a rasping low shot into the corner of the net.
Highlands Park booked their place in the final with a penalty shoot-out win over Polokwane City in Tembisa on Tuesday. They will participate in their first ever top eight final, while SuperSport will be aiming to win the trophy for a second time in three years.
The final will take place at Orlando Stadium on the 5th of October.
