The prospects that Kenyan international Michael Olunga will complete the move to Swedish side Djugarden IF got a big boost with the club’s head coach Pelle Olsson heaping praise on the youngster for his performance so far in the trials.
Olunga is on his third week at the team and Olsson, assessing his progress over the weeks, which has seen Olunga feature in the club’s three friendly matches, said he is a very interesting player.
He has already scored for the club, against Steaua Bucharest in a friendly game that ended 2 – 2 and Olsson is pleased with the striker’s presence especially in the box.
“As a player, I think he is extremely interesting. We were very pleased with his skills in the matches he played. We are optimistic but I do not have the clearance to say what is happening right now, what the deal would cost, his value or so but as a player, I think he is extremely interesting.
“He has the physique and is young. In the matches against Gefle, Orebro and Bucaresti, he was instrumental especially on many situations in the penalty area. He is a player who scored 40 goals in 60 games last year in Kenyan football and the African cup matches. There is no doubt about it that he would be a big catch,” Olsson was quoted as saying on FotballDirekt.
