The Tanzania National team, the Taifa Stars will sport a new look jersey in their future assignments beginning with the high profile CAF AFCON match against Egypt.
The Tanzania Football Federation yesterday unveiled a new look uniform at a ceremony that was held at the Kilimanjaro Hall in the Goden Jubille building in Dar es Salaam. A new look website www.tff.or.tz
During the launch, which was graced by Mchinga Member of Parliament, Hon Said Mohammed Mtanda who was the Chief Guest, a record 194 certificates were issued to different groups of football stakeholders in recognition for their efforts to build Tanzania football.
At the launch, three types of jerseys in home, away and training kit were unveiled. Also present at the ceremony were Said El Maamy, Retired Chairman of FAT, immediate former TFF President and CECAFA boss Leodogor Tenga, TFF President Jamal Malinzi,Martin Nooij,Taifa Stars coach and a host of football stakeholders including players, both former and current, referees and Government representatives.
In his welcoming speech, Jamal Malinzi praised the government for its support and the stakeholders at large; He thanked the Union’s President Jakaya Kikwete for the support and subsequent winning of the CAF U17 rights to host the tournament. He thanked the MP for accepting to be the guest of honour and creating time to be at the ceremony.
He then later issued certificates to different groups of people, The 1980 team that played in the first and last Nations Cup, The national team players, former and current TFF officials, Journalists etc.
He acknowledged that in his 2 year stay much has been done and pointed the appointment of 7 Tanzanians as members of CAF committees. The seven members include-
Leodegar Tengea,Jamal Malinzi Richard Sinamtwa,Dr.Paul Marealle,Lina Kessy,Mwesigwa Selestine,Crescentius Majoni
Meanwhile, Tanzania’s opponents in the AFCON 2017 qualifiers Egypt has started preparations under Argentinean coach Hector Cuper.They are scheduled to play a friendly with Malawi and then Burundi. Tanzania has also Nigeria and Chad in the same group Zanzibar and Tanganyika both join together to form Taifa Stars.
