The top three teams in the Vodacom premier League will not be in action over the weekend as the league enters match day 27.Hiwever the two teams representing Tanzania mainland will play on Wednesday 12th with only Simba not having a league match this weekend.
Azam missed a chance to claim the top spot after getting only two points out of a possible six after they were held by Toto Africans to a 1-1 draw on 3rd April and later a 2-2 draw at home against Ndanda.
The result leaves the Chamazi based side on the third spot with 52 points, five points below leaders Simba who have played a game more.
Yanga on the other side will be in Continental action same as Azam when they welcome Egyptian giants AL Ahly. The Dar es Salaam giants who beat Kagera Sugar 3-1 at the weekend are second on the log with 53 points, a point ahead of Azam and four points below rivals Simba.
On Saturday tomorrow, three matches will be played across the country. Ndanda FC who shocked Azam will welcome money bags Mwadui FC at the Nangwanda Sijaona Stadium in Mtwara. African Sports will play hosts to Kagera Sugar at the Mkwakwani stadium in Tanga while Mtibwa Sugar will be at their Jamhuri stadium in Morogoro to lock horns with Tanzania Prisons.
Only one match will played on Sunday 10th pitting hosts Mgambo JKT against Mbeya City.
On Monday action will shift to the CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza where Toto Africans will entertain Majimaji FC.
The battle for relegation survival heatens up this weekend. Most teams from the eighth spot are fighting survival however Coastal Union, African Sports and Mgambo JKT all from one area risk facing the chop if they continue dropping points.
Yanga will return to action on Wednesday with a clash against Mwadui at the National Stadium while Azam will have to travel to Morogoro to meet Mtibwa Sugar.
