Former Harambee Stars coach Adel Amrouche popularly known as the “Architect” has been lined up to replace Mart Nooij as Tanzania’s Taifa Stars after a spate of poor perfomances that have been catapulted by the ongoing Cosafa cup in South Africa where Taifa Stars lost in two consecutive matches.
Sources privy to the ongoing’s at TFF intimated to Soka25east.com that It is emerging that former Kenya’s Harambee Stars coach Adel Amrouche could take over the mantle from current Tanzania Coach Martinus Ignatius Nooiji. The Dutchman who joined Taifa Stars in may last year after Kim Poulsen was sacked for poor showing at the CECAFA tournament in 2013 , has not lived up to the expectations if his last three competitive matches are anything to go by.
Taifa Stars drew against Malawi in a friendly match in March this year and has so far lost all their matches at the ongoing COSAFA tournament in South Africa, against Swaziland and Madagascar, teams that are below them in FIFA Coca-Cola rankings.
The poor performance at the tournament in which they were invited as guest team seems to be the proverbial last stroke on the camel’s back as Tanzania football lovers have taken to social media to call for Nooij’s sacking with a trending hashtag on twitter #NooiJmustgo One tweet by Eric Ongara reads, “No two ways about it.
“For our pride and for the sake of coming competitions, fire the coach.” As it stands, the Tanzania Football Federation(TFF) may have heard their cries and soon their wish will be granted.
Algerian, Adel Amrouche won the CECAFA cup with the Harambee Stars of Kenya in 2013, and he has a vast experience in African football having previously worked in DRC Congo and Burundi .
