Tanzanian goalkeeper David Mapigano has left Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia FC on a mutual agreement for Tanzanian side Azam FC. He has penned a two year deal.
Club’s Chairman Ambrose Rachier confirmed this development and said the player handed in a request to leave the club.
“Goalkeeper Mapigano (Robert) wrote a letter to the club requesting to leave and we agreed to that request allowing him to pursue his interest in Tananzania,” said Rachier.
This comes as a new goalkeeper in Levis Opiyo joined while another custodian in Fredrick Odhiambo left.
Despite Mapigano’s exit after only a year with K’Ogalo, Rachier says plans are underway to fill the gap as he kept the identity of his target under wraps.
“We are talking to another local goalkeeper and hopefully we finalise the talks to have him on board as a replacement for Mapigano,” noted Chairman Rachier.
