26 year old Tanzanian prolific striker Mrisho Ngassa has put pen to paper in a four year deal that will see him don South African PSL side Free State Stars colours after they paid Rand 1 million for his services.
Free State Stars head coach Kinnah Phiri told the club’s official website that he is on the lookout for more players and will hold trials next week in an attempt to identify raw talent.
“We have released the players now and told them to return on June 15. Next week we’ll be having a trial with some National First Division players, who we have been keeping track on,” Phiri told the club’s official website.
“We need two goalkeepers, we need left and right fullbacks, a winger and one or two strikers.
“We had a problem with scoring goals this season and now it’s time for us to sign another striker who can really score.”
Speaking exclusively to Soka25east.com an elated Ngassa intimated that he was happy to have been signed by Free State Stars and was looking to help them next season.
“I am really delighted to have signed for Free State Stars a team that has alot of plans and good record. As a player its always once wish to move abroad and even though i will miss my Yanga Team mates and fans i had to take up the responsibility in a different league like Absa Premiership which is very competitive”Ngassa told Soka25east.com
“I want to thank my former team mates at Yanga, the fans and club management for always believing in my ability”he added
Ngassa has been plying his trade for Young Africans, where he helped the side to domestic honours and into the second round of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup where they were ultimately defeated by Tunisian outfit Étoile du Sahel. He is also a regular player for the national team Taifa Stars .
