Tanzanian striker Elias Maguri has terminated his contract with Zambian Club Nakambala Leopards.
Maguri the club’s top scorer for the club this season, terminated his contract with the club on mutual consent.
The 28-year old Taifa Stars marksman who has scored five goals in the Super League this season, said his decision to leave the Mazabuka-based outfit was due to pressing personal issues.
“Yes, its true I will not be coming back to Nakambala because of some issues at home, only two months is left on my contract and it will take close to that (two months) for me to come back, so I decided to leave,” said the former Simba SC frontman who also featured Al Dhofar Club of Oman.
Nakambala Leopards who are set to face Kabwe Warriors over the weekend are in a fight to secure their Super League status next season but the departure of Maguri makes it even harder for coach Albert Mphande.
“The team is not in a good position but every one fighting to stay in the top league and I wish everybody at the club good luck,”
“Nakambala is a nice team with good sponsorship and since I came to the club they welcomed and treated me well and I can only say thank you to all the members of the executive, the coaches and my former teammates and I hope we can work together in future God willing” he said.
Maguri who has 18 caps for the Taifa Stars joined Nakambala at the start of the current campaign as a free agent.
