ZANACO rejoice in Nkana Stadium
Taonga claims the kick of gold behind enemy lines as Nkana offer little resistance.
Zanaco surged into top four in the Super League with their third win in a row after a torrid period that had seen them go five games without a win. That was a rugged demonstration of the mental strength which has not characterised so many of their performances this season.
The loss for Nkana means their only win at home is still against the Newly promoted New Monze Swallows as the other counted victory was not played but offered free points . That was loss number four at home, amounting to 12 points lost. The draw would have been enough for Superiority over Zanaco’s poor start to the season but in the event Zanaco took the lead with a goal from Taonga Bwembya as early as in the 8th minute. That was the second free kick he was scoring in the last three games.
The 12 times champions are well below their best so far in the first 12 games and Nkana fans will be hoping this form changes as they are struggling to get three points.
Zanaco came to Nkana on Wednesday as heirs presumptive going on heirs apparent and without a victory away record to Nkana since 2012 when they last beat Nkana 3-1.
This was a special win and to prove the point, which was all they needed to maintain for the race to the title. And Taonga Bwembya who scored had very little to say about the goal.. . “Am happy the goal came when we needed it most and am happy with the form we are slowly gathering. Two free kicks converted in three games is good for me. ” said Bwembya
Historical neatness demanded that Bestone’s team finish the job without delay. They had won recent games at Nkana stadium with high scores from 2012.
In this case Bestone’s side needed the points to keep their hope of the 13th title alive and break into the top four as well as brighten their chances of playing in the Barclay’s Cup .
It’s done, the poor start to the season by Zanaco is slowly being forgotten and the good start of Nkana is slowing diminishing. It’s becoming a source of concern if you are seeing this from the 13th title Journey, losing four games in the first 12 games doesn’t describe credentials of a champion and worse off these losses are at home.
Talk of the form on the road, it’s not as excellent as people view it, the opposition that Nkana could gauge their season was the away game at Kabwe Warriors as other results looked so much in order not to drop points.
It’s clear, Nkana aren’t as good as its fans want to believe. The team has a lot of work to do to get back to being contenders of the title.
Early days yes but time is running out for Nkana and something needs to be done.
Kitwe United is next and that already tells you what to expect .The two teams last met in the super league in 2004 and United did a double against Nkana .
Nkana has a tall order…
