Two officials of the Tanzania Football federation yesterday appeared in court to answer to charges of bribery allegations and match fixing that rocked the second tier of the Tanzania league last season

A case in the magistrates court in Kisitu, the two accused of pocketing Tsh 25 million approximately $12000 in order to fix matches involving Geita Gold mine to aid them in promotion.

The two, acting head of Competitions at the federation Martin Chacha and an aide to the President Juma Matandika were arraigned in the court yesterday

In the case filed by anticorruption agency (Takukuru) through their lawyer Leonard Swai together with State counsel Odesa Horombe,the two claimed that on February 4th 2016 at the TFF offices the accused asked for bribe to a tune of Tsh 25 million from Salum Kalunge ,a Geita Province TFF officer also Geita Gold mine FC official Constantine Moradi

The money was to use TFF to influence the outcome of matches involving Geita Gold mine FC to help them get to the top tier league.

The accused denied the charges and we’re released on a Tsh 5million bond each with the case pushed to November 30th for hearinginkg
